What's in Life-Cycle?

Mealworm Frass (Ecothrive Charge):Our flagship product, Charge, is renowned for its ability to boost levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. It serves as an excellent source of beneficial microbes. This natural and ecological product significantly enhances the primary nutrients in your soil mix. Additionally, mealworm frass contains fragments of mealworm skins and other body parts, providing a rich source of chitin. This helps stimulate the plant immune response and strengthen defences.

Neem: Neem acts as a powerful enhancer of soil fertility, thanks largely to its capacity as a nutrient accumulator. With roots that extend deep into the soil, neem accesses nutrients beyond the reach of other plants. It is abundant in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Another significant benefit of neem is its ability to protect against soil pests and pathogens.

Premium Seaweed Meal: Often referred to as "green gold," our seaweed meal comes exclusively from the highly-prized species, Ascophyllum nodosum. It boasts over 60 trace elements, making it a phenomenal natural soil amendment. This meal enriches your plants with a luxurious nutritional diet, enhanced by natural plant growth hormones such as cytokinins, auxins and gibberellins. These hormones aid in cell division, nutrient mobility and rapid root development.

Gypsum: Gypsum is essential for enhancing aroma, flavour development and overall health in fast-growing plants. It improves soil structure by enhancing water penetration and reducing water logging, thus conditioning your soil for better plant growth.

Insect Meal: Our ecologically-sourced alternative to crustacean meal, insect meal, has a very low sodium content, making it an ideal amendment for living soil. Rich in amino acids, nitrogen and phosphorus, it provides excellent nutrition for plants and enriches soil biology. Insect meal is a sustainable choice, sourced from black soldier fly larvae reared on controlled food waste streams.

Rock Phosphate: Rock phosphate provides a slow-release source of phosphorus, a critical nutrient incorporated into our Eco-Life mix to enhance soil biology and nutrient delivery to plants. Phosphorus is crucial for root development, vegetative growth and the production of fruits and flowers.

Basalt Rock Dust: Known as the "magic ingredient," basalt rock dust supplies essential trace minerals and silica, vital for optimal plant health and vigour. These elements are the building blocks of enzymes, proteins and various metabolites, while silica promotes robust plant structure capable of supporting substantial yields.

Humic and Fulvic Acids: Derived from the natural decomposition of ancient vegetation, humic and fulvic acids are abundant in humus. These compounds are highly effective in chelating nutrients, facilitating easier uptake by plants. They also play a pivotal role in stimulating microbial activity and enhancing both plant health and root growth.

How To use

Make Your Own Living Soil

Make Your Own Living Soil

  • Light fertility - 300-400g per 50L
  • Moderate fertility - 500-600g per 50L
  • High fertility - 800-1000g per 50L

Mix Life-Cycle with your soil mix using the largest container available to promote a stable, homogenous mix. Adding additional nutrition to soils can sometimes cause an exothermic (heat-producing) reaction—this is all perfectly natural and normal! Allow some time for the soil mix to warm up and cool down before using. Larger volumes of soil (500+L) with a higher dose of amendment will warm up more and may need turning every two to three days for up to two weeks. When making a small batch (50L or so) with a light dose of amendment, this “cooking time” is not always necessary.

When making your own soil mix with Life-Cycle, we recommend using 20-30% high-quality compost or worm castings/vermicompost. This will increase biological diversity and speed up the conversion of organic ingredients into plant-available nutrition.

Used Eco-Life Soil

At the end of the cycle, lightly dust 2-8 tablespoons (30-120g) onto 45-60L of used soil to rejuvenate it. Adding high-quality fresh compost or worm casting at 5% of the pot volume is also recommended. Over multiple cycles, application rates can be reduced.

Top Dress

Lightly dust the surface of each 40-50L pot with 1-2 tablespoons (15-30ml). Water as usual after application. When using fresh Eco-Life soil, top-dress once in late veg-early flower and again 3-4 weeks later. Apply the last top dress 4-5 weeks before harvest.
